I said last month that Rocky stayed
around as a match maker for a while. Lee still let him have a lot
to say as to what went on and how everything was booked. I knew what he
was trying to do. So I just used what he would do to me, to my
advantage, as you can see as everything comes to and end. And he never
caught on. Like I said I learned a lot from Rocky.
Bobby Fields and I lost the Gulf Coast Tag Belts
to the Interns. We were separated - Bobby had different partners
and so did I. We both refereed, Bobby as a special and me just a regular
referee. I teamed up with a few different guys and then Ramon Perez came
along and we managed to win the Gulf Coast Tag Belts from Sugi and Mitzu
Sito. Then in a few weeks after some good battles with Rocket and Flash
Monroe we lost the belts to them. So I went back to refereeing and
opening matches.
By this time we could see that the wrestling fans
were beginning to pick up on me. They would cheer for me when I would be
introduced as a referee. The house would jump when I was booked in a
match that meant something and I was able to have an interview on TV
about it. Lee Fields saw what was happening and he liked it. I told Lee
that he needed to go on TV and tell the people he was going to retire
from the ring, take Rocky's place as match maker, and that would keep
the people from expecting him to run in the ring every time Bobby would
get in trouble. He did, and the rest is history. I am getting closer to
the Gulf Coast Title. More next month.
