Looks like it’s about that time to do another article for Kayfabe Memories. I am really looking forward to writing this month’s article, although, again, I’m not exactly sure what to write. Seems like every time I sit down at the laptop, though, and start typing, my memory gets to working and something usually falls from my brain, through my fingers, onto the keyboard, out to the internet and inside your monitor.

Lets see, last month I told you that I wanted to talk about the rib that Tommy Rich pulled on me on my first trip into the Louisville Gardens. I’ll be sure to go over that, but before I get started, I heard from Ken Timbs, who filled me in on Frank Morell’s history with the USWA. Ken’s got some of his road stories up here on the site, as well, so check them out. In fact, he’s got some downright intriguing stories because Ken was on the road with wrestling and in the business for a long time, much longer than "Big Business." Even thought I go back over 10 years, that’s nothing compared to the ring veterans who built this business <no pun intended> into what it is today.

So thank you Ken for the info on Frank. As many of you know, Frank had a few wrestling personas he did in the 60s, 70s and 80s: Namely, The Spoiler, in the 80s for the USWA. He was also part of a tag team called the Mighty Yankees and that goes back to the 60s. I sure would love to hear from Frank, so Frank if you read this or someone knows what he is doing, please try to get in touch with me. It’s not that hard to do, just run over to www.thenewfwf.com and e-mail the Webmaster - she’ll know how to find me. I guess I should briefly tell you about her: that is my mom, who works her heart out on that website and various other wrestling "back office" things. One of which is to proofread these articles every month (inserting shameless plug for Mama here - love you, Mom!) "Big Business" has a keen sense for business, but I think I was asleep the day they taught basic grammar and spelling.

OK, so let’s get to the big story this month, Tommy Rich. What can I say about Tommy? He is still in the business today, and has had a tremendous run with WCW back before they were WCW, when they were still the NWA. If we go back a little in history, many of you will probably remember the original NWA, which is still in existence today, just not the same form that it was way back when. I’m very proud to be an active part of NWA Georgia and their Wildside television program, but I don’t want to get off track here; anyway, Tommy was with the NWA when they had just been picked-up by Ted Turner’s Superstation, out of Atlanta.  More...
